Solving equations!

To solve equations, you must have three things in mind; the commutative property, the distributive property and the type of equations that exist, for each one needs a diferent aproach. The way in which you should start to solve is write your equation and see if it is a linear equation (ax+by=c or y=mx+b), constant (k=x+y) or quadratic. In this case I will use a linear equation (y=mx+b) because this equation was the one we made enfasis on as well as quadratic.
Steps:
1. Identify what they are asking.
2. replace the value given in the correct place.
3. solve the operations needed.

Examples:

1. y=5x+25     Find y when x=3
2.y=5(3)+25
3.y=15+25
4.y=40
Final answer: (3,40)

You can also find the other variable by doing inverse equation:
1. y=5x+25     Find x when y=10
2. 10=5x+25

You must change the next step for it is easier to make inverse operations, inverse everything in the equation!

3. x=10/5-25

And then just continue solving normally:
4. x=2-25
5. x=-23
Answer is (-23, 10)
